Caleb Reed's deformed middle finger acts as a natural divining rod for gold, a trait his older brother Travis monetized for years while handing Caleb pennies and contempt. Reaching a breaking point, Caleb spends his savings on an abandoned claim the industry has written off. Linda alone backs his gamble. His ability soon charts an enormous deposit deep underground, arriving just as Travis's once-productive mines begin to falter, setting the stage for a showdown between the exploiter and the man who finally owns his gift.
