Elara, born to Frostfang's Alpha, serves as Dorian's chosen mate and Luna while raising their son Rowan. Stability collapses when Dorian declares Seraphina his fated mate and abandons his family. Seraphina's son accuses seven-year-old Rowan of shoving him into a lake, and Dorian orders one hundred strokes of a silver whip without investigation. The boy's heart stops at the eighty-third blow.
