Archaeologist Maya Bennett awakens inside Cassian Vale seconds before his execution, discovering history's tyrant was actually a monarch betrayed by his own court while Caldrin's armies massed at Veyra's borders. A bronze hourglass yanks her consciousness between the modern dig site and the seventh century each time blood touches its surface, forcing her to steer Cassian's decisions alongside allies Lyra, Seraphine, and the wary commander Rowan. Every intervention rewrites the present, transforming Veyra into a nation locked in endless war and elevating Maya to Prime Minister. To restore the timeline, she must return to the past, halt the conflict, and face the real Cassian before the fractured chronology becomes irreversible.
