Nine months pregnant with the Moonscar Pack heir, Luna Ariana is confined by her fated mate Alpha Kane Morgansire in a silver-lined cell beneath the Healing Sanctum and dosed with Wolfsbane Suppressant to suppress her wolf. Kane abandons her labor to attend the birth of his former lover Vera's son, driven by a Blood Moon Oath granting Silvermoon Valley's wealth only to a true-blooded firstborn male. When Ariana begs for a hospital, Kane seizes her throat and accuses her of scheming. He stands guard at Vera's chamber all night, cradling the newborn before remembering Ariana exists — only to learn she and their child have vanished.
